Pretty

Anne Curtis for Preview's November issue.

Looking forward to all the gorgeous stuff she's wearing! Hopefully this issue is better than the October one. :)

Hold on to that feeling

Wore this outfit to my hosting stint earlier!

Everything's from SM, except for the chain headband (school bazaar) and the painted bangle (BBB)

I like the second shot but I wish I looked at the camera instead of looking down and showing off my eyelashes hahaha. Must reshoot when I'm all ready and glammed up! ;)

BSC

My beloved book collection of Baby-Sitters Club got eaten up by termites.

Below is the first of the many books, given to me by my mom when I was seven years old. We were staying at my paternal grandparents' place in Sariaya and my mom bought me a copy of Mary Anne and Ms. Priss so that I wouldn't get bored. It's the book that made me want to write, the one that made me realize I can write.

I feel sad 'cause I feel as if I lost a part of my childhood. I've grown attached to these books, they're like a good friend.

I grew up with these, and as cheesy as it sounds, they're a big part of who I am. Not everything's lost and yes, I still have most of the collection. I no longer read them but they hold a special place in my heart, so it still hurts to see them looking like that. :(

PFW S/S 2010: RTW / Visions & Trends

10.26.09
MOA, Main Atrium

Raman and I almost did not watch our last show for this season 'cause we felt lazy and tired already. I haven't recovered yet from the four other shows I've been to, the collections haven't sunk in yet. We still ended up going to the show though; we didn't want to waste the invites. :))

3 consecutive days of dress up left me drained and yes, a bit uninspired. I ran out of ideas on which stuff to mix and match haha.

PFW S/S 2010: Premier C

10.24.09
SMX Function Room 4

Catalog of clothes from Happy Andrada's S/S 2010 collection. It looked so good upclose, I want to buy something for myself... as if I can afford a frock that's cheapest at 4K haha. Someday, someday. When I get my own money and I can buy something for myself. ;)

Raman and I were seated at the last row(!) and all we could see were headsss of all these people. So we gave up our seats and decided to stand up instead. The result? Photos that I cropped last night!

Arnold Galang

I didn't get the feel of this collection, but I liked the prints and the black dress with gold embellishments.

Dita Sandico-Ong

I like how the designer played with soft fabrics and paired it with tough ones. There's also a Filipiniana touch, but she gave it a new, modern twist.

Enrico Carado

The collection had a rock and roll vibe, outfits you can wear to concerts. It grew to a more ladylike form later, with black and white dresses that looked like they were splattered with paint.

Happy Andrada

The collection focused on a disco belle, with her first model in a gorgeous gown and studded headphones(?). The mood of the room changed, along with the collection's vibrant pinks and purples that looked very pretty. The clothes went well with the upbeat Lady Gaga music and then it mellowed to YeahYeahYeah's Runaway when it came to the bridal wear. Superb!

Tina Daniac

Punchy tones and glittery details = perfect for a fun night out.

Raoul Ramirez for EsAc

I kinda got bored here, I think the clothes were meant for an older audience. It didn't really appeal to me but it did remind me of a resort collection.

Lyle Ibanez for EsAc +

The models were curvier than your average models since the collection's for EsAc +. There were topless male models at the ramp, so it was kinda distracting haha.

Audie Espino for EsAc Couture

Two more to go!

PFW S/S 2010: Premier A

10.23.09, PFW
SMX Hall 2

Tracy and I got superduper late for the Premier A Collection! We didn't want to skip our PHILOPE class, so we ended up missing half of the show.

We had to stand up since there were no more seats left... and I still wanted to document the two collections left. I struggled with taking photos of Ramon Favila's 'cause there was this annoying media person screaming rudely at me, telling me to move.

But I did find a good spot later on, with most of the shots from Yako Reyes' collection.

Three more shows to go!

Oh so gooey

Guess what this is:

Gooey chocolate crinkles from Asian Development Bank's caf (did I get that right, mom?)

It's the good kind, the one that hits the right spot: tough on the outside, soft in the inside.

They're to dieee for. :">

Ballet flats

White polka dots on black + the name Audrey = insta-love. This pair is totally me:

I don't like Crocs but with this one, I might have to reconsider:

On scheds and fashion shows

Turns out I'm supposed to watch five shows this PFW season but I'd be turning up to only two and a half shows.

Oct 22, Puey Quinones: Raman was suddenly given two free invites courtesy of a modeling job she did today (tama ba?) and she asked me to tag along. My parents think it's a bad idea 'cause it's too last minute. Oh well, I don't have anything planned out to wear anyway. :))

Oct 23, Premier A Collection: I'd get late 'cause my make up class ends at 5:50 and the show starts at 5:30. I'm not sure if I'd be allowed to enter the venue, considering I'm already late for the show, but I will try. Who knows, maybe the show will not start on time!

Oct 24, Premier C Collection: I did not get to RSVP to Happy Andrada 'cause I was holding on to my previous commitment, some production assisting job in LSGH... which they apparently moved to next month. I wanted to see this collection so bad. :(

Oct 25, Chris Diaz and Michelle Lim and Oct 26, RTW / Visions & Trends Collection: The only non-problematic ones, 'cause they fall perfectly on my sched.

Yeah, my sched's all messed up, with make up classes being thrown here and there and people moving events to different dates. Seriously, please make up your mind and be considerate!

Almost but not quite

Who would be an hour early for an interview? Me. I was so scared of getting late that I left my place the same time I would leave for my 8am class (which I skipped btw, haha).

Being too early, I ended up waiting outside Saga Events' office until the admin assistant came in. It was worth the wait though, their office is pretty impressive. Being there seemed so surreal, something straight out of The Hills. I felt like I was Lauren Conrad applying for People's Revolution, the college girl hoping to get some experience in the world of fashion and events industry. I did my best to contain myself yet I also savored the moment, so I would have something to remember it by. It took all my strength for me not to start jumping up and down the couch as I was being interviewed, I felt like I was about to burst from all the happiness and anxiety I felt. I was a step away from reaching one of my dreams.

Aaand it ends there. I haven't heard from the company (Tracy already received a text message this afternoon re: her internship), so I figured I didn't get the internship. I would've given an arm and a leg for it but I guess it's not meant to happen right now. Someday, someday. For now I'd figure out what to improve on, hope for more opportunities like this and just keep trying. :)

Taking Chances

Because I can totally relate to this song and what is about to happen:

What do you say to taking chances?
What do you say to jumping off the edge?
Never knowing if there's solid ground below
Or hand to hold
Or hell to pay

♥Taking Chances / Glee Cast

-------------------------

Special thanks to Lexie and Yanee for giving me heads up to an opportunity of a lifetime. I don't know if I'll get the internship, but I wouldn't have had any idea at all if it weren't for you girls. ;)

-------------------------

Edit, 8:39PM: I have a 9:30AM interview tomorrow for the PFW internship. Please pray for me, I really, really want it.

Happy Birthday, Birthday Boy

I just realized that it's your birthday today.

I don't have the nerves to greet you though, it's too stalker-ish. :))

Major Flop

Jourdan Dunn and Chanel Iman on Teen Vogue's November issue:

I like the editorial on Jourdan and Chanel but the rest of the issue seems to be disappointing. I bought last year's November issue and judging the cover above, they have the same content as this year's. Same old, same old.

Another disappointment: this month's Preview, with Judy Ann Santos on the cover.

I have no idea why she's there but I bought it anyway, with the hopes of something great inside. Eh, wrong. I have a feeling it's going to be one of the issues I'd readily cut up into pieces come next year.

Uyy, cheesy!

Can I just say that this show made me download the cheesiest songs ever? I would've never downloaded this old school song Can't Fight This Feeling, Celine Dion's Taking Chances and Avril Lavigne's Keep Holding On in a million years, but heck yeah, I did. Well, the Glee renditions of those songs. Hahaha. And they make me wanna siiiing! :)

Golden indeed

Saw this in Camille's twitter. I love, love, love Golden Oreos! I think we used to buy some from PriceSmart back when it was still around? I don't remember how I got to eat these goodies but I do remember how yummy they are. Ah basta, super love this. :D

Oh, and two of my other favorite must try Oreo variants:

White Fudge Oreos, oreos that are covered in yummy white chocolate. I remember how we used to stock up on these whenever we find them in SM Supermarket. But they eventually stopped selling them. :(

Oreo Cakesters, soft oreo mini-cakes. <3

Tatakbo ako!

I'm required to participate on the Animo Run, since I'm having my PE class this term. I think it's gonna be fun and exciting, it's about time that I try something new! But then I'm not exactly the running type, so it's also kinda scary for me. What if I can't push myself and run the run? Or, being the competitive person that I am, what if push myself too hard and end up in the hospital? Haha. Right now I'm planning to "train" myself and start running in small doses so I don't kill myself on next month's 5k run. Let's hope that I don't miss a step, sprain my ankle or do anything stupid that will be such an epic fail! :))

What's up with that?

I really, really need to vent this out 'cause I don't want to sleep with this annoying feeling. I'm hoping it won't linger on but I still want to let it out now. I know I shouldn't let it get to me though, but I don't want to pretend that everything's okay. If you hate reading rants, then do skip this entry.

To you: It was clear to me that you were going to be the pool's guide-slash-mommy after our PH left us. I knew I wasn't replacing the PH, that's why I never pushed myself to take over the empty slot that he left. I was, and still am, the pool's second command, unless you and the other superiors officially decide and change it. I didn't want to assume, so I stayed put as the docu head.

On the other hand, you did the opposite. You assumed that I'm no longer interested. Hello, did you ever ask? You didn't even clear up things and tell me where I should be. What you did was shake it up badly - you gave one of my responsibilities as a docu head to somebody else, without telling me why. Then you started ordering me stuff that I don't think I'm supposed to do but I did them anyway 'cause you are the pool's guide-slash-mommy. At the end of the day, it's still confusing, frustrating and upsetting to work with you. Oh well. What's new, huh?

Destroy everything you touch

For the record, on behalf of persons A, B, C, D and me: unreliable people suck. There's nothing wrong with screwing up from time to time, 'cause we all go through bad days. But you really need to shape up if it's become such a distinct bad characteristic, to the point that everyone actually knows and expects that there's a huge chance that you'll screw up. Don't sign up for responsibilities you can't handle then expect for people to step into the role you left. Stop acting like everything's okay when we all know that it's not. It gets worse as time goes by and everything just piles up.

--------------------

Now, I don't want to air out this next thing but since I'm all bv anyway, might as well get over the frustrations and let it out in one big blow:

I don't know where to put myself. There are times when you take me by surprise and let me play the leader role... Then the next thing I know, I'm demoted to your text brigade minion. I don't mind being the follower, as it is truly what I am in the group. But I hope you don't pass on to me the responsibilities of the pool head, as you've been doing at the start of the term. As far as I know, my job is to take care of the hosting pool's documents. And yes, while I am the next in line to the now empty slot of hosting pool head, no one gave me the go signal to take charge over the hosting pool. Minsan para akong hilaw na hosting pool head. Ginagawa ko yung trabaho na di naman ata dapat sakin, pero ginagawa ko kasi inutos mo and by default, kelangan ko sumunod. Sana lang malinaw yung job description ko.

Fish-a-fish

My brother brought home a fish last night, a cute little souvenir from his field trip.

Then I woke up this morning with three fishes in the fishbowl - my dad thought it'd be nice if he bought two fishes to accompany the other one. So now my sibs and I get a fish each. :))

The September Issue

I spent my Friday night at home, watching the documentary The September Issue.

I love how Anna Wintour explained why people seem to think fashion is shallow when in fact it influences every one of us - just the simple routine of putting on a pair of jeans is a fashion influence. It was fun watching her and seeing her at work, I get the chills just thinking about how bigtime she is in the world of fashion. As one of the Vogue editors said, everything in fashion goes by Anna's eyes.

Grace Coddington is Vogue's creative director, so she oversees most of the fashion shoots and even does some styling for them. She works closely with Anna and there were a lot of scenes which showed how she stood up against her boss and fought to have her way done. I ended up rooting for her, 'cause she's much human compared to Anna. Plus, she does great shoots! And she has a lot of great insights that I'd love to quote - so I have to watch it all over again, haha.

Some of my favorite parts:

Anna Wintour and Grace Coddington battling it out on what clothes to put on a 1920's-inspired shoot.

The documentary's cinematographer Bob was tapped to do a jump shot for the famed photographer Patrick Demarchelier...

...and was photoshopped with model Caroline Trentini's shot. Lucky guy, he's now part of Vogue's history!

*Sorry for the crappy photos, I only took low quality shots with my phone. The official poster's from the documentary's Facebook account.

On a high

I'm becoming addicted to Glee, way even more than Gossip Girl!

The boys with their mash up of It's My Life and Confessions:

The girls with their mash up of Halo and Walking on Sunshine:

I think the boys' performance is more fun and stellar. Agree? :D

Girl on the Go

Stella McCartney's S/S2010 presentation showcased pieces perfect for ladies who love to dress up. No nonsense tops and dresses were sent down the runway, probably with the idea of a girl on the go who wants to look put together from day to night. Lots of feminine details were present: trousers and blazers in silk, cami tops in lace, colorful tops with ruffles and dresses with rich prints. Stella McCartney accomplished a collection that's far from being uptight, stiff or boring - instead, it had a chic and sophisticated vibe that ladies will love and will love to wear.

Sunday Surprise

I got giddy and shocked when I leafed through the Sunday paper and discovered that Natalia Vodianova is the new face of Kamiseta.

Natalia Vodianova is one of the most famous models in the industry, walking the runway for fashion houses and gracing Vogue covers, fashion editorials and campaigns.

She's one of my favorite models 'cause she seems nice and down to earth, depsite having the kind of life she has. It's cool to know that Kamiseta got her as their new model, making them the only Filipino brand with an international model. What's kinda sad though is that the market probably has no idea who she is, unless they're hardcore fashion followers.

Hopefully she gets more recognition in the Philippines and maybe help Kamiseta get more love with their new campaign!

Breathtaking

Alber Elbaz' Lanvin offering for Paris S/S2010 looked so breathtakingly pretty, I'm sure it looked even better in flesh. The variety of fabric play, such as draping and pleating of the fabrics, made the collection interesting. It seemed to go on and on, from the very first black dress until the very last piece that was presented on the runway. I could feel the intensity of the fashion show and I'm only judging it by the photos - what more if I was there to actually see it in Paris?

City Girl

The City's back with season 2!

My fave character is Olivia, mainly because I like her style. I also like the career path she's taken at 23: she used to work for Diane von Furstenberg's PR department in NYC and now she's at Elle magazine working for their accessories department.

The bad news is that she's this stuck up socialite who seriously thinks she's above everybody else and has bad working habits. In short, she's not worth emulating when it comes to getting along with people. Hopefully she gets her own taste of medicine this season, so she can learn a thing or two. :P
